There are many false tan products on the market, the best of which are without doubt Fake Bake, Summer Kiss and Xen Tan, whilst Aero tan gives a very natural temporary tan.
Here are a few tips to solve common problems.
Trouble Shooting
If you experience a problem result, it is probably down to human error, either something that you have done before or during application, or something that that has happened after.
Remember that the result of a self-tan is only as good as the skin that you are applying it to. If you have dry, uneven patches of skin or uneven pigmentation it is advisable to carefully apply the tan in greater or lesser amounts accordingly.
Exfoliating before application is advisable, to ensure and even natural looking result. Remember initial colouring is usually the guide colour this will wash away when showering to reveal the true tan.
Skin should be clean, dry and free from oily moisturisers.
Problem: A streaky tan
Reason: Something left on the skin beforehand, or insufficient tan being applied, over rubbing of the tan, or not following the aftercare advice
Action: Exfoliate to try and even out the streaks, apply product again
Problem: White patches
Reason: Something left on the skin beforehand, or Spreading the moisturiser too far, or Missed patch during application, or not following the after care advice.
Action: Apply more tan carefully to the white patch.
Problem: Dark patches
Reason: Texture/colour of skin
Answer: Gently and selectively exfoliate to even out colour.
Problem: No Colour
Answer: Usually because of use of strong antibiotics or medication
It is important to note that streaky tanning results with Fake Bake or St.Tropez is NEARLY ALLWAYS caused by human error or poor preparation. A false tan is like a picture, it will reflect the canvass it is applied to. In other words, skin should be exfoliated, and showered clean with a non greasy shower gell. There should be no trace of moisturisers or oils unless according to instructions (St.Tropez). Do not apply tan until 4 hours after showering, tan should be applied quickly and evenly making sure all areas are covered evenly.
General Points on St.Tropez results and products
If you are very pale, it should be noted that your skin will have a subtle colour. A second application may be required to give a more tanned look. (Often people like the affect after one application and do not wish to appear too dark).
St.Tropez has the addition of a slight green pigment, which prevents the tan from turning orange.
If you are already tanned or have recently come back from holiday, your tan will be enhanced.
The shelf life of the body polisher and moisturiser is approx. 2 years. Auto bronzant will last 6-9 months once opened, 2 years unopened. It is recommended to lock the pumps between use.
St. Tropez tanning products are all safe and suitable for pregnant ladies, providing
there are no other contra-indications, as is the treatment. Leave the nipple area if breast feeding!
People all have unique body chemistry and the tan reacts differently on each individual. (Rather like perfume gives a unique aroma on different people).
St.Tropez differs from other tans on the market in the following ways: .It has a guide colour
It has a high percentage of DHA.
It is Aloe Vera gel based.
It does not contain water.
It has a green pigment to prevent the orange appearance.
It does not streak
The smell is pleasant due to Aloe Vera. .It will cover stretch marks and scars.
There are no sun filters in St.Tropez and users will tan and may burn if care is not taken through a
St.Tropez tan does not contain sunscreen. A SPF product must be used if the client is going out into the sun.
While our SPF 15 sunscreen is compatible with the tan, other products may not be. Any product containing oils will fade and remove you St.Tropez tan
